Sep 5 Election time!
Not just any election, but probably the most important election you could vote in this year. Yes, it’s the CTRL-A executive elections!
This is your webmaster and president for the Summer 2011 term, Dylan, here to welcome you back to the wonderful world of CTRL-A for the fall 2011 term. We’ll have lots of great stuff for you to do this term, but for now, I’ll start you off with our upcoming first general meeting, which will include the new executive elections. That meeting will take place on Monday, September 12 at 6:00PM in AL 105. In addition to our elections, we’ll be talking about upcoming events for the term, and it’s a good first chance to meet everyone. First meetings tend to run long, but we’ll probably go out to dinner afterwards, so come on by and have a great time.
If you’re interested in running for one of our exec positions, then you definitely need to attend this meeting. Our officer positions (Activities Coordinator, Concessions Manager, Electronic Communications Officer, Publicity Officer, Web Maintainer) are open to anyone who has been a member of the club at least once in the past year. Our executive positions (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, External Relations Officer) are open to anyone who has been an officer of the club at least once in the past year. So it’s really easy to climb the ranks, but just make sure you can handle the responsibility. Also, candidates don’t have to be nominated; all you have to do is state your intention to run in person at the meeting, and everyone else in the room votes to decide. It’s rather simple, and even if you aren’t eligible to run for a position, you can still vote.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the summer 2011 execs for their exceptional efforts and contributions. Asher, Will, Karl, Jon, Alcina, Sam, Jess, Mo and Andrew, you guys did a great job. Thank you for all your hard work, you’re all awesome!
That’s all for now. Our regular events will be starting ASAP after the meeting, but more on that in an upcoming newspost. This might be the last you hear of me, depending on how the elections go (sad I know), so I’ll say goodbye for now. It’s continued to be a lot of fun crafting these posts for all of you, and I hope to see you all at the first meeting.
