Sep 12 Welcome! Fall 2015
Hello, World! Welcome to another term of CTRL-A! For everyone new and interested in the club, our first event is this Monday:
- First General Meeting
- Monday, September 14th at 5:30 PM
- Located in MC 2054 (the big concrete bunker)
- We’ll be introducing the club, electing new exec, then likely having some kind of icebreaker activity. After the meeting, we’ll be going out as a group for dinner at university plaza.
After that, we’ll be running a bunch of events throughout the term, including:
- Shows, where you can watch anime in a big theatre-style lecture hall.
- Karaoke, where you can sing your favourite anime OP / EDs. Or video game music, doujin, J-pop, whatever.
- Semi-Organized Social / streaming night, where we watch anime that has aired in the previous week, or anything not on the show schedule. Sometimes it degenerates into games, or listening to doujin music, though.
- Monday Meetings. After the first one, these are Super Serious planning meetings for our events. We still go out for dinner after, though. (NB: not actually very serious)
- Game Tournaments, like Smash, Touhou, Mario Kart, or whatever people are interested in running.
- Sushi Lunch. Exactly as it sounds.
- Hot Pot, where we get together at someone’s house to eat lots of food and play lots of games.
- … plus anything else YOU want to help run! Like, say, a Cosplay Cafe. Or a VN-maker’s group. Or cosplay workshops. Or an entire convention – these are all things we’ve done in the past! (with varying degrees of success)
So if this all sounds interesting, how do you join? Well, the main thing is to just show up, have fun, and get to know people. Other than that, you should sign up for our mailing list, join our Facebook group, and – if you like what you see and expect to stick around – buy a membership to help cover the cost of running the club (7$ or 8$).
I kind of live on the other side of the continent now, so I won’t be able to meet you in person. But have fun at CTRL-A, and good luck to the next person who decides to be Webmaster (please be less lazy than me!)
Signing off,
Riel “Go home Suika, you’re drunk” Fuller
