The Charm

First of all, let me congratulate Bill D. for winning first place in our Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle tournament last Friday.

Secondly, allow me to elucidate the details of this week’s events.

  • Monday Meeting: Monday, June 23, 6PM, MC 2054. If you want to volunteer to help with the upcoming show 3, you can do so at this meeting. Volunteers will assist in setting up the equipment prior to the show, and putting it all away after the show is done. The meetings can also serve to give you that inside perspective you crave.
  • Project Night: Wednesday, June 25, 6PM, QNC 1506. Preparation for the cosplay café is well underway, so here’s a good chance to work on your costume, or any other personal preparations for the big day. You can also bring your homework or games to this fun, social event.
  • Show 3: Friday, June 27, 4:30PM to 10PM and Saturday, June 28, 2:30PM to 9PM, AL 116. Our third, and penultimate, show kicks off this week. Go read the schedule here. I’ll wait. Are you done? Ok, so you get to watch all of that anime, plus chat with fellow anime fans, participate/watch fun activities, and spend your money on snacks and pizza. What’s there not to love? Nothing, that’s what.

Tiger & Bunny Movie Screening: In addition to the above, there will be a screening of the highly anticipated film, Tiger & Bunny: The Rising on Thursday, June 26 at 7:30PM, at Galaxy Cinemas Waterloo. It is highly recommended to have seen the TV series beforehand, as this movie is a sequel. Several members of the club will be attending this showing, so if you want to see the movie with fellow club members, be sure to see it on Thursday. Show up early for exclusive mini posters! Check out the Facebook event here. (There is also a showing on Saturday if you can’t make the Thursday showing, however this one will not be as attended by club members.)

Cosplay Café: Also upcoming on July 16 is the return of the Cosplay Café! After an unfortunate cancellation last term, it’s back to exact its revenge upon the SLC Multipurpose Room from 12PM to 5PM. Bring your friends and enjoy light snacks and drinks while watching/participating in fun activities. If you would like to volunteer to assist with the event, for example, running activities, baking goods, serving food/drinks, or setup/takedown, you can do so via our Doodle here. However, please note that set-up will start early at 10:00am, and baking will occur on July 8-10. You can find the Facebook event page here.

EOT Weekend Survey: The EOT weekend is also coming up in about a month’s time, and we want your opinion on whether to hold a picnic in Waterloo Park, or a traditional hotpot at someone’s house. Please vote here.

An information-packed news post that hopefully didn’t bore you too much. There’s just a lot of fun stuff coming up. Enjoy!
