May 12  W-W-W-What’s Going On?

Welcome back to another wonderful term of CTRL-A. (Or welcome to CTRL-A for the first time!) Here in this introductory Summer 2014 post I will give you the details for events taking place this week, and a few other term kick-off announcements. Brace yourself for information.

• Monday Meeting: Monday, May 12, 6PM, MC 2054. Continuing from last week, but if last week was your first meeting, let it be known that generally, only the first meeting will be that long. This meeting will finalize show 1 plans, so if you want to volunteer for setup or take-down, you can do it here.
• Project Night: Wednesday, May 14, 6PM, QNC 1506. Brand new room, same old project night. If you want to spend some time hanging out and socializing with fellow club members, come check out project night. Bring your homework, or an unfinished craft project, or a board game, and have fun in a social setting.
• Clubs Days: Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16, 10AM to 3PM, SLC Great Hall. As is tradition, the Federation of Students will be hosting their Clubs, Services and Societies Days this week. As a club of the University of Waterloo, we will be in attendance, trying to convince people how great CTRL-A is and getting new members to sign up. If you’re reading this but aren’t sure if CTRL-A is for you, maybe come by and see our table? If you’re already convinced, you can help run the table by volunteering at the meeting.
• Show 1: Friday, May 16, 4:30PM to 10PM and Saturday, May 17, 2:30PM to 9PM, AL 116. Let the shows begin. Our main event. Our raison d’etre, if you will. For two consecutive days, come watch anime on a theater-sized screen with fellow club members. In between shows, discuss anime and enjoy activities. We have a concession stand selling snacks, drinks, and pizza during the dinner break, so you never have to even leave the room. Once the schedule is finalized, you will be able to find it here.

In addition to our main events, we are organizing a group outing to see Katsuhiro Otomo’s Short Peace, a collection of four critically acclaimed short anime movies, on Wednesday, May 14 at Galaxy Cinemas Waterloo. Check out the movie details here, and the Facebook event here.
