Oct 27  Show 3!

I hope everyone has been well these past few weeks. The wait for show 3 is almost over! And this time, it won’t be all Pokémon movies! We’ve also got a few special events upcoming that you can read about towards the bottom of the post. But first, this week’s events, for your consideration:

• Monday Meeting: Monday, October 28, 6PM, MC 4058. Back to our usual room for this meeting. With show 3 imminent, we’ll be looking for volunteers to help set up before the show, so if that interests you, please come to the meeting and volunteer. If you’ve joined the club and are thinking about running for an exec position in the future, attending meetings and volunteering are great ways to prepare you for that responsibility. They’re also quite fun and often end in dinner, so there’s that.
• Project Night: Wednesday, October 30, 6PM, SLC 2134. Continued preparation for cosplay café and other such social activities. Fun stuff up in here.
• Show 3: Friday, November 1, 4:30PM to 10PM, AL 116 and Saturday, November 2, 2:30PM to 9PM, PHY 145. Our usual room is unfortunately unavailable on Saturday, so please note the new room for that day only. The show schedule can be found here. Come watch anime! Buy membership/snacks/pizza! Participate in fun activities! CTRL-A shows are great fun for all types of anime fans. You won’t want to miss it.
• Cosplay Contest: Friday, November 1, 7PM, AL 116. Calling all cosplayers! Bring out your best costume and compete among fellow fans for cosplay supremacy. Even if you don’t think you’ll win, break out a costume and come to the show with it anyway. It’s pretty close to Halloween, after all. This is during the dinner break of show 3 Friday, in the same room, so you don’t have to worry about conflicting events. I just wanted to draw special attention to it.
• Games Night: Friday, November 1, 5:30PM, AL 211. Speaking of conflicting events, if anime isn’t your style, or if there’s a particular show or two you aren’t interested in, feel free to check out Games Night, run in conjunction with UW Gamers just upstairs in the same building. Just try to come back to the show room for the cosplay contest; it’s more fun with more people.
• Sushi Lunch: Sunday, November 3, 12PM, O’Yummy Sushi. If all that wasn’t enough for you, stick around on Sunday and come eat sushi and similar items at the old club standby, O’Yummy Sushi. Details and RSVP on the forum or Facebook event.

We’ve also got some fun stuff coming up. Here’s a quick summary:

• Show 4: It will be on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23. Don’t miss this grand finale.
• EOT Weekend: November 29-31, all kinds of awesome. Friday kicks off with karaoke night in AL 116, and then on Saturday to early Sunday morning, we go to the home of a generous volunteer to devour delicious hotpot and play the video games. More details will be posted closer to the event.
• Secret Santa: An annual tradition at CTRL-A, we are once again organizing a secret Santa. All the details are in this thread for you to read. The more sign-ups we get, the more fun it will be, so consider joining. The gift exchange will occur at Hotpot on November 30.
